I'm pretty convinced that most of the 5-star reviews on Google and elsewhere are either: (1) industry plants; (2) friends of the actors/crew/producers or; (3) those who want to be (2).
That said, the first episode of this new series is well-acted and shot with the grittiness and drama one would expect from this genre. My three-star rating (after one episode) has mostly to do with a giant plot hole - a personal pet peeve - where the subject of an FBI manhunt, who's eluded capture for decades, is finally located in an "op" involving multiple agents, the deputy director, and a fueled jet ready for extraction/rendition... and is pursued and "caught" in the field by two guys in car on a dirt road at night. No air support, no backup agents. Nothing.
Of course, after the subject is restrained with only zip ties and placed, conscious and alert, in the back seat of a vehicle in the middle of nowhere with the one remaining living agent driving... you can guess the rest. It's trite and predictable.
I'll keep watching and hoping that this series gets better. I really like and respect Bridges and Lithgow.
