The FIFA franchise has been great and fun until Fifa 20. FIFA 23 can be described as garbage. It has some pros and some cons (go to the bottom to see my opinion) Pros: Highly realistic, immersive cutscenes. Cons: Horrible defending, Stupid goalkeeping on both ends, bare minimum World Cup, UI changes, Ball phasing through players, stupid referee choices, Players making rookie mistakes, Play highlights feature (Player Career mode) your opponent scores goals in 2 minutes like Mbappe, even if you score 10 goals you won’t win and no counterattacking, In manager career mode, player chat isn’t immersive and there’s no reason not to click the criticise option, The board terminates your contract if you give a player that you will never sell a small release clause, simming games (not quick sim) is worthless and you need to jump in even against the most easy opponents, also players get upset over missing one match out of the whole season. Also the price rating is worthless telling me I could get a player 85+ for £0 , Also youth academy players demand to be premoted even if they’re -50 rated and get upset about less game time, you can’t develop the you players. On top of that, the board gives you the most useless objectives ever. The Gameplay is horrid, defenders open space like automatic doors, goalkeepers do the splits instead of diving and players go offside when I pass to them but they don’t go when I try to start an attack. The World Cup is meh. There are a lot of nations left out like Bolivia and Peru, especially in Europe and South America. I wish there was a qualification feature where you could qualify for the World Cup and the groups would be different but there aren’t enough nations. Also I wish you could make. Custom kits for nations like in PES. The Career mode is even worse. For manager career mode, schedules were horrible. I had 3 games where my team was exhausted and had to play a game 3 days later. For Player career, the new activities are a creative idea. But the skill tree is just a massive cheat, especially if someone were to play as goalkeeper. I miss the old days were you actually had to grind on the training ground to level up. Also the match objectives aren’t good and no one cares about them. Another thing that is useless is the highlights mode. If you play highlights as a player than no matter how much goals you score, the other side will always win. It’s a fair assessment to say that FIFA 23 is a horrid game and a waste of money.
