Book is not a bad read. But it’s pretty clear that Mr Kershaw has a deep seated prejudice against Italians. I can’t read a chapter without reading a disparaging reference to Italians. I’d like to remind Kershaw that Italians hated the Nazis. That is why they wouldn’t fight for them. By contrast, a large percentage of the French, who Kershaw treats far more kindly in his book, were collaborators with the Nazis, especially in Brittany and the south. Very disappointing perspective.
