Movie gone to waste, the entire gimmick of Sandy having a crazy family has been over done in the movie industry and feels extremely random. I don’t know if this is something that has been mentioned in the newer episodes but I don’t remember anything about them. They all felt extremely irrelevant and useless to the story, the snake part in the beginning is drawn out and could have been skipped. The animation is pretty weird, at certain times it looks stunning and then the other 80% it looks pretty bad. Especially when the characters interact with the real world. Admittedly, there were a few moments that made me laugh and I enjoyed some of the strange aspects that were added but in no way did they make up for the movie. The only part I can praise is the two live action scientists, I enjoyed watching them more than Spongebob and Sandy. I entire story idea itself is alright, if the team had an extra two years, spent the budget more wisely, and re-wrote some of the story plots it would have absolutely been a great movie. It was most certainly rushed, you could tell as soon as the movie started to play, none of the characters feel natural. You don’t get enough time to fully appreciate any of the characters, they were just soulless vessels to make the run time longer. Honestly if I didn’t know what Sponegbob was and you told me that this is the new Illumination movie, I would totally believe you. I find it extremely sad how they allowed this franchise to go such waste, every new show episode, movie, and game feels so empty. Just know that you’re not missing anything if you don’t watch this movie, in fact, you’re better without it.
