I loved this movie. From the colors to the magnificent return of Angelina Jolie as the mistress of evil. Michelle Pfeiffer is EXCELLENT as Queen Ingrith, the wretched queen who wants to wage war upon the creature of the Moors. Everything was so vibrant and colorful. The costume design, the make-up, the beautiful sets. It was truly groundbreaking. A worthy successor to the first film. There are two things that do not sit well with me in this film is the very obvious change between actors Brenton Thwaites and Harris Dickinson. Every other actor stayed the same but I do believe that this particular character should’ve stuck with his actor Brenton Thwaites. Second, the fate of the queen. In the first film, King Stefan, who was Maleficent’s love interest in their younger years, cut and stole Maleficent’s wings. He then prepared an army to kill Maleficent. She then flys into him and pushes him off the top of the castle. In this film, Queen Ingrith plans a massacre on the fairies and creatures of the Moors. They kill more than half of the feys, and the fairies and creatures with a powerful dust. The Queen even shoots Maleficent in the back with the dust which turns her to ashes. But when Maleficent comes back in the form of a Phoenix and rises from the ashes, the queen throws Aurora of the side of the castle. Instead of killing her, she is given a “Disney ending” by being turned to a goat. King Stefan did way less in his time as ruler and Queen Ingrith did more than probably any other Disney villain. I just feel like she deserved to die. But, all in all this movie is 10/10.
