If there is any fairness in this world then Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quin should get at least an Oscar nod each for this film. The deceptively simple storyline is filled with emotional depth, hope, pain, love and sacrifice. Some of the viewers giving this a low score bemoan that there is not enough back-story about the aliens and why they are invade earth. If you want a film like that, go watch Transformers. In this film, it is enough to know they are here. The aliens are secondary to the real story. I can't expand on that without writing spoilers. But let me put it this way, if you get to the end without a lump in your throat or a tear in your eye.....there is something wrong with your humanity clock.

Rather a shallow rendition of an old story. None of the adult protagonists were worthy of sympathy. It was a case of picking the most reprehensible of the bunch as the guilty party. There was no real depth to the story and the actors played it that way.

Had the potential to be so much better, but the huge plot holes ruined it.

This is just dire. The acting is wooden and the script very noticeably derivative, the work of Terry Pratchett, JK Rowling and Joss Weadon being the most misused. The other thing wrong with the script is the amount of PC virtue signalling, it strains and struggles to tick those boxes, rather than have them as a natural progression of the story. Marks out of 10...can only give it 2, and that's being generous.

Watched this over one weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The acting was superb and plot had more twists than a tangled ball of yarn. It was unusual in that none of the protagonists were innocent. They were all morally flawed, some of them to the point of being repugnant. But it was that which made it so fascinating. These days drama always has to have a tragic hero. There are no heroes in this story and it is all the better for that
