Ryan Murphy has always been a glutton for sensationalism. Yet again, he has taken a real-life tragedy and distorted the truth with his dramatized inaccuracies. This is particularly harmful in a show marketed as being a "true-to-the-facts" retelling of the case.
He has made victims of horrific and brutal sexual abuse out to be some sort of cold-blooded murderers who are after their parents' money, rather than the battered and afraid children they were, tired of their parents' physical and sexual violence as well as their mental abuse.
He lacks the care and tact required to handle stories with such sensitive content. This is a show that completely lacks nuance and depth.
Ryan Murphy does a huge disservice to the stories of Erik and Lyle Menendez, who are the true victims of this case, just as he had with the victims of Jeffrey Dahmer. The show is downright disrespectful and outrageous, and Murphy should honestly be sued. I would recommend that viewers of this show check out the real footage from the trial, which does the Menendez brothers more justice than this man ever could.
