I haven't read the book from which this movie is based, so I can't speak to its accurate portrayal of that book.
I did enjoy the personal and historical aspects of Reagan's life from childhood through to his death. I grew up in that era but was (blissfully) unaware of one of the close calls we had with the USSR.
No president is perfect, but Reagan was a very good president for the times we lived through.
The one distraction for me was the heaviness of the makeup on Dennis Quaid but that can be overlooked. Over all this was a great film and the scenes at the end of Nancy weeping on Ronalds casket brought tears to my eyes, just as it did when we watched the funeral on TV all those years ago. 4 stars only because of the distraction of the make up.
