I really enjoyed The Last of Us, the game, but the show... well, it just didn't resonate with me. The casting choices bothered me. I didn't care much for the first season, and I still think Bella was the wrong choice for Ellie. But the time jump? Seriously? Are we supposed to believe Bella can convincingly play a 19-year-old Ellie? And a 5'2" slender woman as the muscular 5'9" Abby? Isn't Dina supposed to be Jewish? Why does it feel like they cast these actors without considering the characters' backgrounds? They look way too young! Plus, the world feels too clean for an apocalypse. Good casting is vital to a successful show, and this casting just doesn't cut it. It feels like they randomly picked names from a hat. I'm really hoping they revisit this in the future because, honestly, it's a mess. I was ready to binge-watch this show, but they really dropped the ball on casting Abby. Her physicality is crucial, and they totally missed the mark. It’s disappointing — just take it off my screen. Edit: Here we go again... season 2 was as BUNS as I expected. So, basically, not only that they picked a scrawny woman to play Abby, they fucked up her character too. I HAVE NEVER been so damn pissed off because why the hell is Abby calling her FATHER'S MURDERER handsome? This is NOT my Abby. This is NOT the Abby who can KILL a clicker with her bare hands, this is NOT the Abby who can STOMP a clickers skull, not my Abby and never will be. (guys I'm so mad I'm shaking) Then we got Dina, sweet ol' Dina... Dina is literally Ellie's safe space, not only that, but in the game AFTER they kiss, they legit devote themselves to one another and proceed into a relationship. Whatever the HELL this "slow burn" is... it's not cutting it. To have Dina run back to jessie is just... gods just CANCEL THE FUCKING SHOW ALREADY. The writing is ass, the casting is ass, the adaptation is ass... also what the hell happen to the weed makeout scene between Ellie and Dina?? Honestly these writers need to be FIRED. I can only imagine how ass the rest of the show will be as the episodes continue to come out. One final thing, these reviews yapping about the wokeness in the show need to grow the hell up. There are BIGGER issues besides lesbians and minorities or whatever the hell you're so stuck on. If the shoe doesn't fit, then put it back and MOVE on. If you're focused on the LGBTQ aspects of the show and NOT the plot and writing, then hunny... you wouldn't want to play the game. Yall bitches being mad about the fact Joel gets the exact same death as in the game AS IF people haven't died in the worse ways possible. "He should've died differently" man shut your weak ass up. I know his death hurts but that's literally the point--unless yall want him to get the Lee treatment and have Ellie watch him turn into a clicker, or get 20 bullets to the chest, or have him commit suicide... the golf club wasn't that much of a bad option. Or maybe I'm just that insensitive and woke. Sorry!
