I streamlined this today to watch after reading all the reviews and the reports of audiences supposedly leaving the cinema half way through due to feeling physically sick at some of the scenes.
It certainly is one of the weirdest films I have seen, however the subject has been handled with the utmost honesty and brutality I have seen depicted in a long time.
The effects are quite clever and I applaud Moore for portraying such a grotesque and horrific part, as she is the epitomy of a beautiful woman and if anything it sends a message for us to grow old gracefully and always stay true to ourselves.
I didn't find it that bad, however, it was very disturbing in parts and certainly sends a very loud message to not trust the beauty industry selling the promise of eternal youth no matter the risk.
To sum up, The Thing, meets The Fly, and Death Becomes Her, coupled with a real gore fest at the end reminiscent of Carrie with brilliant acting from Moore, Qualley and Quaid as the mysiogenistic chauvinist pig really adds to the brilliance of the film.
It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea but see it for yourself and draw your own conclusion.
