im sure it has an audience. it seems like maybe he got pissed with people taking his ideas and copying his style and fucking it up so he's intentionally writing crap versions of other peoples ideas. i guess i want him to still be as dark as he was with the shining and it but even re reading the stand stuff that seemed cool at the time is now really cheesy. his work has and still does have a massive impact on people so its difficult to say i wasnt enjoying this book. also him not being in those places is probably much better for him and the people around him. re reading some of his work that is fantasy/horror seems to still stand strong and i think thats because he's still depicting conversation etc as he did in the 50's when he grew up and it doesnt work for stories set in a modern time. but it works for other forms with the same writing style. im relating this to me where im finding music that im making is better just flowing out of me, and im sure a bunch of people that grew up when he did find it entertaining. funny that people seem to think he's making over the top political statements and we seem to be a bunch of conscious kids and young adults being forced to listen to the rigid wants and needs of archaic structures with regard to our politics and legal systems. i hope he keeps writing because ive enjoyed some of his recent work but didnt enjoy this apart from the holly character and even she is seeming too rigid for a modern audience but again, theres probably people his age that love it.
