Profoundly challenging but revelatory insights into "the finished works of the cross". A very well argued case for the grace of God being beyond anything western Christians have conceived of for centuries. Crowder writes, steeped in scriptural references, of the belief that when Jesus, tortured and hanging from the wooden cross, cried out "It is finished", he meant it. He had achieved and sealed everything that was required for our salvation & sanctification once...and for ALL time. The emphasis is on total and immediate forgiveness, restoration, the Trinity being within us and we being in the Trinity. His call is to Christians who have been led to believe that they have to do more to earn their salvation & work on becoming sanctified. This common view can lead to doubts that Jesus did enough on the cross, and therefore humans need to finish the job!
Whatever you think of the book after reading it (I advise having an app with a number of bible translations available as you read) it's likely to shake some of your presumed pillars of church teachings which have inadvertently been fed to congregations for centuries especially in this & the 20th.
My conclusion is that God is so good despite everything, and the good news is truly good news. Not the hard slog that many western churches teach on. Whatever you've heard about the book or author, you can't judge it without reading it through, ideally with friends, prayerfully. Have fun!
