As oppressive as the Chinese traditional culture was, the original Mulan story was never about loyalty to the emperor. Yet, the Hollywood leftists never fail to pass up any totalitarian ideology without loving back: be it Marxism, Muslim extremism, or the Chinese despotic dictatorship. The Mulan adaptation superimposes a new theme over the story: extolling loyalty to the emperor as the No. 1 virtue. While they fiercely attack our democratically elected president, Hollywood is always weak at the knees for winners of the sperm lottery: Prince Harry, the Kennedys, and...the Chinese emperors.
