I wanted this album when it was released but I was 17 in 1972 and Bolan, Bowie and New York Dolls were higher up my list and an album cost as much then as today, so a lot of money and I couldn't afford it. I left home a few years later, The Damned then released New Rose, I was still broke, and Psychedelia was forgotten. It's now 2020, I'm still broke but who cares, and I look back and see a lot of psychedelic bands as bubble-gum, pop, jumping on the bandwagon type stuff and it's easy to do from a distance. The guy that put this together, Lenny Kaye, lived and loved this music and, without the benefit of hindsight, put together an album of those times, without the rubbish, that still resonates today. As an introduction to psychedelia there is nothing better.
