Why would you, Netflix, take such an amazing book, with intricate characters, plots and storylines, and change it? You’ve been handed a masterpiece and then ruined it by simply not sticking to the plots and characters you were given. I can understand needing to leave out some side stories and characters - it is a 500+ page book - but at least stick to the main plots and develop the main characters as they are in the book. Use more episodes - surely this story deserves more episodes than other trash you’ve produced. Doerr is one of the foremost modern fiction authors with a huge following. Who did you think your audience would be? When will the film industry learn that you will not improve on the original work by changing the storylines? This was yet another failed attempt to put to screen a wonderful book. The only reason I give it two stars is out of respect for the actors who did their best with a terrible script.
