The movie was terrible. However, many of these one-star reviews come from non-POC people who believe this was too politically charged and made white people look 'bad'. The reality of many things brought to life can feel like an attack; I guess this movie did as much to them. However, the movie isn't bad because of that reason. The movie had no nuance that made it enjoyable; the story level built into this film is somewhat lacking and reflects the poor scriptwriting. Although the nuance that derives from the core of the script, e.g. the BLM movement theme, is something that has been writing into successful movies such as "Get Out', the shame with this movie is that there was a lack of creativity with the conversion of this theme to the audience. As a viewer you keep waiting for something to happen that made it a "horror" or even any suspense, but it never happened. Personally, this would be more successful as a Netflix series, as it felt like something was missing. This movie just reflects a poorly written story that could have conveyed an important message to audiences across the world.
