I thought there was a unique plot, but it wasn't enough to keep me engaged. Rather dull. I only watched it halfway and gave up.

Very relevant as to addiction in current times. Poignant. Great acting. This is a human interest type movie which is slow, as they usually give that impression since there is no action. But it's the nature of the genre, so if you like action thrillers, this is not for you. Morgan Freeman is one of my favorite actors, and in this he didn't disappoint.

Totally bad acting, plot, script, props, special effects and too much in the dark. There is not much happening with the Meg until later in the movie at an island beach resort and corny at that. The 14 year old odd looking girl is especially annoying. Don't waste your time.

Sometimes this moved slowly during the first quarter of it. I enjoyed the creative story and laughed in parts. There was shooting violence..mostly close to the end, so although it's concerning Chris Cringle, I wouldn't say this is a Christmas movie.

I got this on DVD from the library because I watch all Liam Neeson movies. The only positive point in the plot of this dreary movie about loss and of hunting down, shooting and killing, was the ending where the 2 main characters find their peace. The "bad guys tracking down good guys trying to get away" kind of plot, had no surprises for me. I got a feeling that Liam is physically tired out at this point of his acting career, and so was cast into a role where being old was frequently referred to. Given all the chaos allowed to go on at our southern border now and the resulting support of the malicious cartels in making their fortunes off of others' miseries , this movie was very timely.

This started out so well that I thought of the movie, the Bone Collector, where a serial killer poses as a cab driver, and his target victims meet horrible deaths. But alas, the movie started to go downhill quickly and my interest faded. From what I could see, since all of it is occurring in the dark,( so annoying), the " characters, props and special effects here and there are quite tacky and the script is often poorly delivered. The 2 main characters did not evoke any sympathy from me because they were unlikeable such that I wasn't rooting for either one at the end to get out of the situation alive. That's not good writing to not develop a character to care about. The twist ending was as bad as the whole time leading up to it. People who gave this a high rating need to see more horror movies so they come to know what a really good horror movie is.

This is a poignant film about human nature with beautiful scenery. At times it dragged, and a slow paced movie like this isn't for everyone. I thought it was unrealistic to leave everything behind and live like a hermit in the mountains with no survival skills, not even to keep a car or phone for emergency. Was she going to live on canned tuna forever? But clearly Edee wasn't in her right mind due to the unspeakable trajedy she suffered.

I am a fan of Morgan Freeman and like to follow his movies. I didn't read up on this first because I never expected that he would be in anything so bad. I can't imagine what he was thinking ( perhaps not thinking at all) to have taken this part. The boring dialogue, the tedious chase scenes on empty roads, the mediocre (at best) acting and the overly stylish presentation, only served to make me happy when it ended. Honestly, it would be more fun to watch paint drying . I gave it 2 stars for trying.

I was disappointed that this film entirely deviated from the Wrong Turn cannibal franchise and thus misleading viewers. Maybe it should have been called something more relevant to the film like The Foundation, a counter culture of Viking-like hunter-gatherers in the forest or the name of the brutal leader, Venable. They tried instead to make it relevant to issues today by way of the characters and about how we treat each other, and then wants us to come up with a trite, rhetorical question when all is said and done: Who is the monster? My question is why did I continue to watch this? I felt the scripting was corny. I gave it 3 stars for the actors.

It started out for me that I could hardly see the movie in daylight because the settings were so dark. So I had to wait until evening to continue. I am surprised that some viewers believe that the depiction of the underground railroad is true. People, this underground concept of a physical railroad is allegorical fiction. This series is not a documentary although it is based in fact as to the horrors of slavery, seen many times in other productions. In the early episodes this was poignantly portrayed. Later, many scenes were dream sequences which I found to be tedious and disruptive to the story, while fully understanding these parts to be the genre of magical realism. I watched all the episodes and felt that the later ones more than halfway through, dragged. I think most of the actors showed incredible emotion, but the role of Cora was a huge disappointment. The Cora character was a deadpan, pouty and generally annoying person undeserving of the outstanding male characters who for some reason were attracted to her. That isn't to say I didn't appreciate Cora's hardships in the storyline which were graphically depicted. It just didn't work for me in caring much for who she was in the role. Also, I felt the story was unfortunately too much focused on her...the Perils of Cora might have been a more suitable name as she went from here to there throughout the series. Read the book. It's soooo much better.
