I was a bit apprehensive about this book seeing all the negative reviews about it. But, I thought I’d still give it a go and I’m glad I did. I actually quite liked this book, even the emails, because godforbid women have thoughts apart from their personal dramas and relationships right? I grew up at a time when I sent long emails to friends, updating them about my life, and I think there’s something quite intentional about that — and it not having the pressure of a quick response as well. The characters are quite similar in all her books, but I’m glad there was a redemption for these ones. I would even dare say I liked this book so much more than I did Conversations with Friends.
