I much prefer the extended version in which the renegade Raynald get’s his - which is said to have occurred in precisely the same manner as depicted in the uncut film. The scene when Guy ambushed Balien was also a good one… again cut from the shortened (sanitised?) version. Why can’t these films be left alone and shown in their entirety? It’s so annoying! This said, Kingdom of Heaven although factually very wide of the mark in so many ways, is one of my favourite films - if not my #1. It is a modern, swashbuckling Epic built upon elements of medieval history, and worth every minute of viewing.

Brilliantly written, wonderfully produced and impeccably acted. A five star film.
