I really like the idea of the film. But there’s really no real chemistry between the actors playing Sylvie & Robert. Comes across bland. Their tryst is not believable in the least bit. Also, the title of the movie is very appropriate. Sylvie truly only cares about herself. She cheats on her fiancé, had a child on him, 5 years later, now married she cheats on him again. She doesn’t even tell Robert about the child when she had two opportunities. Her husband isn’t better. He’s an egotistical male chauvinist, who doesn’t want her to work. Which is understandable in the 1950s. Sylvie explains to him she tired of being the woman of his dreams while neglecting her own dreams, at her fathers funeral. Sylvie comes across as ambitious but really apathetic to others. In fact she only becomes likable when she tells Robert she would leave her job to be with him. Overall, I gave it 5 stars because I understand the node to old cinema and I actually like the concept of the film.
