After reading a fair few other books by Colleen Hoover which are my favourites (It ends with us, it starts with us and the maybe series) I honestly didn’t think anything could top how I felt whilst reading those books but Ugly Love is now my number 1 favourite book by her. It is so beautifully written and I loved how it made me feel throughout the book. I couldn’t put it down, I was absolutely hooked and I fell in love with the characters. Colleen writes in such a clever way where she makes you feel every emotion whilst reading her stories, from sadness to happiness and love. I adore this book and I urge anyone who loves a romance novel to read this one, it’s truly amazing

After reading ‘it ends with us’ i immediately went out and bought ‘it starts with us’. I myself have been in an abusive relationship so to see Colleen had written another book which is about Lily’s relationship with Atlas and shining more of a positive light on everything was amazing, and it was so beautifully written. It takes a lot to leave a DV relationship and it was so warming to read how happy Lily is in her rekindled romance with Atlas. Colleen’s writing has me hooked everytime, I haven’t been able to put the book down!

As a woman who has been in an abusive relationship myself I was worried I’d find this book triggering however to my surprise I found this book so incredibly empowering. Reading from Lily’s perspective I could relate to all of the thoughts and feelings she was going through throughout this book, and seeing her navigate through this journey from the start of her relationship with Rhyle to having the courage to leave was incredible. It takes a lot to leave a DV relationship and the way Colleen writes about it is so spot on. I was absolutely HOOKED on this book and I got so attached to the characters. Beautifully written, this has been the best book I’ve read so far.
