THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAST, save for the actor who played Vicious. (He was like a bloodthirsty Draco Malfoy. ) And Yoko’s use of music was sublime. That said, the direction and editing were terrible. The style favored the Kill Bill / Kung Fu Hustle form of sharp and non stop action. The subtle, understated, quiet, heartbleeding merlot of an Anime, suffused with short doses of midlin comedy is lost in this sea of loud, bloody, shenanigans. And that the entire season was a setup for another season, with a plot that differs so much from the Anime that it might as well be a totally different universe, this show just leaves you sitting there feeling like you watch a Shaolin Interpretation of Days if Our Lives. All the substance in the world can’t fix the complete lack of style. Which is a shame because good editing could have fixed this. The stylistic choices were simply… awful.
