Outstanding. Winslet is excellent as always and even got the accent. This is what True Detective has tried and failed miserly to achieve after the first great season, a great story arch that keeps you riveted. It’s a very interesting mystery and the family stories are engrossing as well. Just when you think you have figured it out, you realize you haven’t. Definitely a 5 star series. Can’t believe it took me this long to watch it. Highly recommended. If you loved this try Sharp Objects, it’s excellent as well.

Completely over rated. I didn’t believe this kid at all could have done that. He’s too sensitive to just stab someone to death and then go to bed. He wets himself in fear but can kill somsome in cold blood and go to bed?He reveres his dad but then lies to his face? Everyone in UK knows CCT is everywhere and so would this kid, he would know it was probably recorded. It just was completely unbelievable and unbelievably anti male. It felt completely one sided and Yorkshire is 2.5 percent black but it seemed half the cast was black. It all felt totally contrived. The acting was good but the story woke rubbish, so typical of Netflix unfortunately, they gave us the absurd race swooping Bridgerton after all

Lily Tomlin was great, I wish the others were up to her level. The interlude with Fonda and her ex was awful, it felt false and contrived, you never felt those two would ever have been together, it felt a DEI add on. I never liked Jane Fonda and definitely didn’t care for her in this. Should have just been about Tomlin, her story was interesting, Fonda’s was inauthentic.

Movie was slow and dead dull. What was the point? Jolie sleeps through the roll. Not great. The positive reviews of this snoozer are absurd

Marvin was great as usual, he was elegant and had the most beautiful white hair and that great voice that aged like fine wine. Direction and Cinematography was first rate as was Horners score. Always a fan of Hurt and Dennahy was always great. Helsinki stood in for Moscow and felt very cold, elegant and Russian. I’ve seen this movie several times, I always enjoy it. Taunt thriller.

Just a fantastic movie. A 10. Ariana Grande stole the show. I can’t wait for Part II. I saw this on Broadway and I’m shocked to say, the movie improves on the Broadway musical, which I thought impossible. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I saw it in IMAX, just amazing.

Why are all the people bring interviewed not white???? They keep saying it’s a white thing as they have all these blacks and minorities commenting. NOTHING Netflix does can be white, it must be full of blacks and minorities. It’s bizarre to see a documentary on like the whitest thing ever being full of blacks, you would think it was a doc on Soul Train. The only whites are the former models and ex executives to trash other white executives. I guess they couldn’t find the 2 minority models who worked for A&F. They also found the 3 black girls who worked at A&F. I hate Netflix, they ruin everything. No way any of these people represent A&F, except the former models and the former executives. Typical Netflix, trash whites and over represent minorities. They start the Doc with like no whites, you think you’re watching something else. All these blacks commenting on how they never understood A&F. WTF would they? It wasn’t marketed to them at all. Why are they even commenting? They found the only black girl at Sidwell. It’s like Netflix has a DEI chart for everything, you must shoe horn blacks and minorities into everything. Like making 18th century England look like Roots. It’s absurd, woke nonsense and so is this. Netflix is trash. It was a white gay thing. So what? Can we not have anything????

I really like this film. Glenn Close should have won and Oscar. It’s a feel good movie about perseverance. I liked all the flashbacks. A lot of critics are liberals, like 99 percent so I’m not surprised they gave it mixed to poor reviews. Everything they do now is just politics that’s why people come on here for reviews and not some woke liberal, virtue signaling and calling it an accurate review

All these positive reviews have to be planted, period. This is HORRIBLE and I’m a fan of the novel and Minghella’s treatment. Ripley in this is too damn old!!!! He’s like 50!! It’s RIDICULOUS. Like remaking Sixteen Candles and having an 55 year old Ringwald play 16 year old Claire. What was the point? This is embarrassingly bad, it doesn’t work remaking Cocoon as Ripley. Ugh, Anthony Minghella made the perfect movie of this classic novel by the caustic Ms Highsmith. She would be FURIOUS with this version and geriatric Ripley. Minghella’s movie was so sexy and beautiful with gorgeous young leads. Jude Law a beautiful perfect Dickie, Matt Damon at the height of his looks, he was excellent as Tom as well. Then Hoffman, hilarious as Freddie. One of my all time favorite movies. I wanted to like this. I HATED IT!! Why remake it with a Senior Citizen as Tom? Netflix is a JOKE. If it’s not blacks playing British Royalty, it’s a Tom who is headed for the old folk home. This is garbage. It’s unbelievably SLOW! The acting is TERRIBLE. Tom was so creepy and gross looking I have no idea who Dickie would give him the time of day, like some old ugly perv in Speedo, it was absurd! Mr Greenleaf seems like they found him on the street, like a homeless person, he couldn’t even read his lines!! Save six hours of your life and watch the great Mingella version and read the book too. SKIP THIS TRASH. I confess I stopped watching after the first episode, it was that bad. I don’t want my memory of Ripley anymore tainted, I just took out my DVD of Minghella’s version to scrub my mind of this hot mess.

An outstanding movie, a true 5 star. It’s filmed so beautifully and the acting is top notch, especially Hopkins, who is at the top of his game. He gives Mr Stevens such depth and he says so much without saying anything. His is a very sad life, one all about duty at the expense of happiness, he throws away his one chance and he knows it. Hopkins plays him on the Spectrum, he definitely can’t read people, Hopkins himself has Asperger’s so I’m sure it helped him create the subtle nuances in Stevens. There are many good performances but it’s Hopkins who owns and commands this movie and he who you will remember. Highly recommended if you love great cinema.
