The production and choreography of this star-studded movie/musical was amazing. I was glad to see that the emphasis was not on the cast but the messages. I know that might be hard for some to understand considering the Era in which the movie depicted. I'm not saying that some of the awful things done to our black women were not recognized, there were and more messages were felt through song.
The pain was felt, but they didn't linger in it. The movie touched on all of the unforgettable points such as incest, racism, abuse, anger, grief and a variety of emotions. But the outcome was resilience, self-love, strength and determination.
I used to get so upset when people constantly called me resilient through the years. But, today when I look back over my life, they were just acknowledging me for the strength that I exemplified in times of turmoil and trauma.
Thank you for the remake of "The Color Purple." I am beautiful and I am free!
