The book Diary of a Wimpy Kid, by Jeff Kinney was hilarious and fun. The book is about a boy, Greg Heffley, who was trying to survive middle school with his best friend, Rowley Jefferson. I really enjoyed the plot of this book. I disliked the book at first because I realized that Greg is very self-centered and mostly cares about popularity. For example, he framed Rowley and made him get kicked out of the safety patrol team, leaving his best friend to be confused on why he got kicked out since Greg didn’t bother to explain to him what he did. Later in the book Greg decided to admit his actions to Rowley and told him to “take one for the team” and not tell on him. Rowley ended up telling on him though and they separated from becoming friends, leaving Greg to end up alone. I changed my thoughts on this book though towards the end when Greg Heffley gave up popularity to actually “take one for the team” and tell the school that he had “the cheese touch” instead of leaving Rowley the one to have it. The cheese touch comes from a rotten piece of cheese on the school's basketball court. Basically, if you touch the piece of cheese you get the cheese touch, and no one will go near you. Rowley ended up getting it when some bullies forced both of them to eat the cheese. Greg lied saying that he was lactose and tolerant and they forced Rowley to eat it. The book was really fun to read and there were some funny parts along the way. I would definitely recommend this book to you.
