Aside from the atrocious pacing and editing, this film kills any emotional depth the original held and completely destroys the message of the film. Im not against remakes as a concept, but disney is so incredibly horrible at them; Not only does this not add to the original, but it actively hurts the message of the film-especially with its weird propaganda undertones. Most significantly, Lilo literally being given away to a random neighbour and Nani moving away. Also, important to mention the actor of Nani is not even from Hawai. In a film that was originally contextually referencing the displacement of Indigenous people. Aside from that, Disney seemed far too scared to have Lilo act 'weird' so they toned down her character, but that just killed the point of outcasts being worthy of acceptance and love. This is furthered by the lack of the 'ugly duckling' story from the original that emphasised the theme of found family. 0/10 film, just watch anything else.
