SPACE: ABOVE AND BEYOND was one of the best sci-fi shows ever. Much more realistic and down to Earth, so to speak, than Star Trek or others of that ilk. It followed the adventures of the Wild Cards, a squadron of Marine aviators in space who also sometimes fought, unrealistically, on land. Humanity, it seems, is at war with an alien species, the Chigs, which we believe (wrongly, as it turns out) are fighting a war of annihilation against us.
Great stories and an interesting plot twist at the end of its single season changed everything and would have made Season 2 quite interesting. The episode about "Chiggy von Richthofen," the alien ace, was absolutely riveting.
This show deserved a long, long run. Sadly, it only got one season.
