Thank you Disney for killing my childhood. I’ve been a huge fan of Star Wars my entire life. From the original Clone Wars series in ‘03 to the Solo anthology story (something we didn’t even ask for), I’ve been influenced by it like no other. OH you know what The Rise of Skywalker was lacking? Context. So much context. We see in all of the other episodes that they’re all building up to something. The prequels are building up to the construction of the Death Star and Anakin turning into Darth Vader. The original trilogy was building up to the destruction of the empire. And now the sequels.. it was just so hollow. You don’t feel any emotion when you see someone die. Palpatine is back (I’m sure you know), and out of nowhere there’s just a huge freaking fleet of Star Destroyers. Like where does that even come from? There’s no context whatsoever. It even says in the opening crawl “there’s been a voice and Palpatine has returned”.. and you just jump straight into a hollow story. There were so many missed opportunities throughout the entire movie. The chances. Oh so many chances to bring back beloved characters from the prequels. But of course, Disney botched it, saying “Oh, just so you know, we own the Star Wars franchise now. Nothing before our sequels mattered.” I’m sure many of you, like me, despise the sequels.. especially TLJ. I would love to rant more about how this entire saga was about Anakin and the actual Skywalker bloodline, but there are so many other reviews out there that say it too. Thank you beloved Star Wars fanbase for standing up for what you believe in and completely disassembling these sequels. Overall score of the entire trilogy is a 6/10. The saga shouldn’t have ended that way but the movie wasn’t awful.. in some places. Once again, thank you Disney for killing my childhood.
