VVVV UPDATE VVVVV
So real quick I dropped my review from 4 start down to 2 starts for one real reason. The time it takes to level is substantially greater than Diablo 3. It's almost impossible for an average joe like myself to logon every day with my 2 hours of free time to level up to 100. In Diablo 3 at least there was a cheap way to rift your way to 100 in a matter of 20 minutes. In Diablo 4 it took me weeks just to get to level 72 and I couldn't even make it to 100 before the 1st season came out. This killed my motivation and has caused me to not pick up the game since Season 1 came out. I just can't get over that there is no way in hell that I will be able to repeat making a new character every season for it to take me 1 or 2 months to reach end game level 100. I also have a bone to pick with how little the stats make a difference after level 60. It's almost like your fighting for pennies on the dollar in regards to what you actually can see when you fighting mobs. The only difference that matters is making sure you have the right items, with the right stats, and legendary affixes. You have that any your practically destroying everything many levels above you. For instance, my level 70 was killing level 95's. So like I said the stat increases per level mean nothing after a certain point and your just fighting for Paragon points.
If they can fix the time it takes to level to 100, I will pick this game back up. I can't have another MMO World of Warcraft Leveling experience in a game like this.
VVVVV OLD REVIEW VVVVV
I am a huge Diablo fan, and I've played all of them religiously. I swear I would have dropped out of Highschool for Diablo 2 if my parents had let me. As for why I've dropped it down 1 star is for really 2 reasons.
1. I was level 35 when I left act 1 which to me didn't seem like such a big deal at the time because I was just enjoying all the side quest with a friend as we played together. My item level was not progressing as quickly as I gained higher levels in ACT 1 though. So when it came down to going back to the story I felt underpowered and weak on every boss fight. It was a struggle to continue to the story solo since my level way way higher than my gear. I eventually had to ignore ALL side quest and progress only the story to feel caught up on what drops I was receiving in regards to my level.
2. SPOILER ALERT!!!
The final act with all the bosses I fought back to back felt drawn out and took what felt like 10 mins or more to solo them. It felt unnecessarily long to defeat each boss. I was playing a Druid Werebear build and I never really had to use a health potion and I was criting well in to the 3-5k range but the bosses health went down super slow. So my biggest complaint was the mental exhaustion and my hand cramping from the long winded boss fight that felt like it dragged on forever. It wasn't because my damage wasn't good enough, my survivability was above expected since I barley used health potions, and I wasn't getting hit too hard. SO all in all, boss fights are long winded for what feels like no reason. Maybe they should drop the amount of health they have and increase their damage to make it more of a challenge but not as long of a fight.
What I liked in a nutshell: Excellent Graphics, Excellent cut scenes, Skills look great, I love the new map and how big it is, the side quest are fun, the lore feels right and the acting isn't cheesy, and I like how they've incorporated materials that apply to everything and actually get used (Like ore, herbs, scraps for salvaging stuff).
