*This was easily the best movie adaptation Dune could probably get.
*That doesn't make it at all perfect, no movie honestly is: Some cons include:
-The style of Denis is polarizing at his best of times. It has been toned down, and there are plot reason for it to be there. However it is there, and whatever opinions you had won't change in this film.
I can only hope later editions with new cultures will move away from that theme , but it can feel like asking Wes Anderson to make a horror film. (Later books have crowded court rooms and massive parties for gods sake, I couldn't imagine that in a Denis Movie.)
-It condenses alot of fluff into a very clear and good story; the potential issue is...it condenses fluff into a very clear and great story: If you wanted a specific scene or moment to be recreated that wasn't absolutely necessary, I have bad news.
*It makes a real effort of having the same tone as the books, and that was great.
*As a comparison, few consider S1 of GOT to be thier favorite. The Last Airbender only improved from S1. You may consider the Star Wars V to be great, but prefer the later 2 more. In a sense, this movie is the same: 'If the series is good, this was a great movie' seems to be a general trend for others reviewing this and I agree.
*(Spoilers From here for Dune and the Later books as a whole):
-This movie ended on a massive cliffhanger, you already know the Book ends on a cliffhanger: Hell, the 2nd book ends on a plot-based cliffhanger with a thematically satisfying ending. If you want a solid end its arguably in the 3rd book.
-I could only imagine two things happening: They never fund that 4th movie after 3 that made fans more and more frustrated with waiting, or the crew moves on after 10 years working on the same series (I kid somewhat, with potentially 3 years of production for the next 2-3 movies)
