I found this movie so compelling when I saw it on tv, I watched it twice through back to back. The station aired it twice and I watched both times, something I’ve never done before. The acting and story were fascinating to me.

Beautifully filmed, visually appealing, overall I enjoyed this film and the mystery presented. It is about selecting a pope, of course, yet not having read the book or any synopsis, I was expecting it to be revealed that the dead pope was murdered by one of those present for the conclave. I held this theory right to the end of the film. I’m still not willing to give it up as a possibility. I wondered what clues were provided by the camera lingering on the dead pope’s dirty bedside glasses and later focusing on the broken/cracked lens worn in my murder suspects’ frame. That distraction aside, I enjoyed the experience overall. The theater audience around me was pretty riveted as well. It was so quiet most of the time I didn’t feel comfortable chomping on my popcorn!
