This is a raw and unapologetic documentary hearing the voices of a few of the survivors of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Two events which now, and I believe for many years since, have been viewed as a shocking display of inhumanity, wartime sadism, and a poorly excused test on civilians who were completely devoid of power in the conflict between the Allies and Japan. The visuals are frequently graphic in nature, but they are the reality of what occurred and I believe the strong imagery is vital to conveying the critical message the documentary seeks to send: no more nuclear war. You cannot help but feel the pain, sorrow, and suffering that those who perished and, moreover, those who survived the bombings as they retell their stories. I greatly appreciate the courage of the survivors sharing their experiences and the film makers for taking the initiative of creating this documentary, as now in 2023 there are very few - soon to be no - survivors remaining. I hope for all our sakes that with their passing there will never again be a need to hear the experiences of survivors of nuclear warfare.
