The Mandalorian
The show is only two episodes in and I’m already impressed. The atmosphere is perfect for a galaxy in chaos after the fall of the Empire. I love the mix of computer animation and practical effects, and the cast is great. The plot is easy to follow without being predictable(at least for me), and the characters are an interesting mix of desperate scum and noble savages. The Mandalorian has the same charming mystery as the Master Chief from Halo, but is far more relatable as you watch him struggle with difficult situations. Compared to Disney’s other Star Wars stories, I’m blown away by how well the Mandalorian is taking shape. So far it’s on course to overtake Rogue One as my favorite of Disney’s entries into Star Wars canon.
The best part so far is Kuill the Ugnaught. The retired mechanic is the perfect blend of confidence and competence, and serves as the moral compass for the first two episodes. The alien’s weathered face is beautifully sculpted and Nick Nolte’s performance is outstanding.
