Reading reviews on this movie brought me to the conclusion that many if these people who wrote the articles just don't get it. I personally thought this was an excellent movie with a really good story, & I don't usually compliment things that are associated with Netflix. Sure the Bonnie & Clyde movies are more action packed & glamorous than this one, but that's part of the appeal for more. The public during that time & even now love the idea of this romantic couple. The truth is Clyde used Bonnie as a shield more times than not which is why she had to die with him. Another picture this movie paints is if you strip away the romance & legends you have two murders. The men they killed had families that would suffer that loss for the rest of their lives. Mothers that would have to raise their children with their husband, kids that wouldn't get to learn from their father, in some cases not even know their father. Not to mention parents, siblings, etc. You have to watch the movie knowing that it's not about action & thrills. It's about stopping murders from continuing their rampage. It was an good move to not show Bonnie & Clyde much. I recently watched Public Enemy. While it did show plenty of the law side you still couldn't help but root for the bad guy. As I grow older I develop more sympathy for the unseen victims. Even in events today with a lot of people outraged at the death of a criminal, I think about the people that person hurt in their lifetime. The only difference in the people of today & the people back then (as far as the view of criminals goes) is that at least those gangsters were charming, polite, &well spoken. Anyway I highly recommend watching Highwaymen at least once.
