I really enjoyed this modern adaptation of a classic or the “woke agenda” as others have called it (which by the tone of their reviews make it sound like a bad thing, welcome to 2022 people!). I watched it with my 10 year old daughter and it definitely sparked some great and important conversations, like the scene where the mom tells the twins they couldn’t play with their toy guns outside. Or the racial bullying Haresh experienced as an Indian American. The 1950s version and the ones with Steve Martin were great for the time period they were released in but this version is well suited for the 2022 America, the blended family America and the mixed race family America. I hope they make this into a tv show for those of us who don’t wish to shield our children from reality or a chance to understand the struggles other people and families go through because of their cultural and racial differences. It’s ok to learn and grow while also enjoying a funny feel good family flick at the same time 😂!
