A great premise, even more timely today. Tom Hanks, as usual is believable and charismatic. But as a story, designed to capture and hold attention, it wanes from the start. To much is implausible and contrived, Emma Watson's performance lacks any measure of nuance, and she remains morally ambiguous about her role in The Circle from the beginning. I would have appreciated the movie showing her with more of an internal struggle, and appreciation for the views of her friend Mercer; it would have made her decision to sell him out eventually more dramatic. I understand the point the movie was trying to make, but the skill of telling a story is in leading the audience to their own conclusions, not just playing a very simple game of connect-the- dots. I was really interested at the beginning of this movie, by the end I was just bored.
