I came to this from L&M DC. The husbands of Detroit are some of the most daft men on reality TV: Anthony—immature; Russell- dumb; Brandon— dishonest. Add a dash of religiosity and you have relationships that lack depth and awareness and can I say, men who treat their wives as second class people. Having said that, I love the pettiness of this franchise and find it easy to watch and highly entertaining.
Brandon & Kristina. A relationship that lacks maturity. He has a history of dishonesty with his wife, which was clear in the first two episodes. They are both hurt people and Kristina uses her Christianity as smoke and mirrors to blame others and deflect. I will say she’s the only one with a decent sense of style on the show.
Russell & Kolby. She grew up as a pastor’s kid and married a man like her father. Russell lacks any kind of consideration of Kolby’s feelings and POV. He races to come to her defense as if she is a child. Makes major decisions without consulting her and thinks he can be in divinity school and run a gym on the side with his wife doing most of the grunt work! Kolby is trying to make a name for herself as an influencer and Russell thinks so little of her job. Ugh, he’s the worse.
Anthony & LaToya. Anthony is a serial entrepreneur with the energy of an immature adult. He thinks quite highly of his social mobility skills to be a high roller in the Detroit scene. Watch the episode when actually has his so-called Men’s Movement “rally”. He likes a to play in petty and is ultra disrespectful to women—-period. LaToya, the most distinguished professional of the group, really dislikes discord and has a very challenging being upfront and tries to play unbiased peacekeeper but lacks the skills to do so.
God help these relationships!
