I loved the movie. Halle did an AMAZING JOB! She embodied the role and I didn’t notice skin color as distracting from the plot. She was beautiful and her voice is amazing. Jonah Hauer King was a great Eric and Melissa McCarthey did awesome as Ursula. Halle and Jonah had great chemistry. Jennifer Alexander as Vanessa was excellent. She managed to leave a mark with such little screen time. I wish she had sang the song Vanessa sang in the cartoon. I did feel that there was not enough of a father daughter bond between Ariel and King Triton as was in the cartoon. Also, they shouldn’t have left out the performance by the daughters at the beginning. I feel they kind of just jumped into things. Lastly, the reveal after Triton turned Ariel into a mermaid should been more similar to the cartoon. Halle should’ve wore a beautiful sparkling dress like Ariel did in the cartoon and exited the water as she did. They could’ve really made that amazing. P.S. most of the people giving this movie 1 star didn’t even go and see it lol.
