I love this book. It is nothing like I assumed it must be. It is a fantastical, magical story full of parody's, parable's and panache. I did have to go back several times after looking up certain things I was not socially or ethnically aware of, but it was worth it. Because of The Satanic Verses, I have since read other novels by Rushdie. I have never been disappointed. His writings remind me of Aesop's Fables and the Arabian Nights with a bit more fantasy tossed in.
