I'm usually an MCU fanboy but this movie feels like it just took every single bad trope of the MCU and rolled it into one milquetoast script. Sam Wilson isn't really allowed to have the gravitas or pathos of more beloved MCU heroes. They all have things that give you a reason to be invested in them. Sam isn't given that. He second guesses if he should have become a super soldier or not a couple of times. That's it. His story arc and growth feels watered down and ignored in a plot that is trying to be a political thriller, but fails to develop any emotional investment in the story or the protagonist. I s2g the Sony movies did more to develop their protagonists. It's not Anthony Mackies fault. He's a good actor who is doing his best. But he's given the bare minimum to work with. We never see his strengths because the movie doesn't want to show them to us. The emotional heart of the movie is President Ross who is given more of an arc than anyone else, and Ross is really the only part of the movie I liked. I usually can still find something I like in other 'bad' MCU films. Quantumania has Paul Rudd and Kang. Eternals is a bit janky and bloated but still trying to be grand in scale. This one just has very little that stands out and very little I remember outside of Samuel Stern's coming back... he deserved so much better than this.

Easily the best of the Venom films. I won't pretend these movies have been flawless or masterpieces but they're just the perfect kind of dumb and I love them for that. TLD has the most heart, takes it's time to tell a more emotional story and spends more time being goofy, but the action it does have it really fantastic. I loved this movie and I loved this series.

It's definitely good and if you liked the other Deadpool movies you'll like this. If you like the MCU, you'll also like this. I don't think it's the greatest film ever but it's fun, irreverent and has really good action. The CGI in a few places looks really spotty though. It's always obvious when they're using it and the movie leans extremely heavy on the cameos and self referential humor, which I think may alienate some outside audiences.

I liked this movie. But yeah... aside from a few moments this film really is the most generic entry in the MCU. I wouldn't call it soulless, it's got good ideas. But it's obvious it's been cut up and stitched back together to the point where it's been flattened out into a B-movie without a lot of substance and ultimately comes across as just another MCU movie.

The Barbie movie is probably one of the best movies of the year. I did not think I'd be that into it.

It's a movie with some very clear problems, namely a rushed first act that's been chopped up by editing. But once you get past the first 20-30 minutes it's actually a lot of fun. Not the greatest Marvel movie but not the worst either.

I really couldn't get into this movie. I tried. But it's every single teen movie cliche that I absolutely despise rehashed only with aliens. I really didn't like any of the new characters, and I didn't think the plot made a lot of sense. The first hour felt sorta rushed and the second hour was boring. The third hour had some pretty good action and emotional beats that did sort of redeem the movie a little bit. But I still think they could have been handled better. The funny thing is - I think if they'd just had a specific big death scene there occurs at the end, during the first hour, it would have fixed most of the problems I had with the movie. I still wouldn't have liked the characters, but I think story wise a lot of things would have made more sense and the things that didn't make sense, I'd have an easier time forgiving. This feels like a bad movie made by a good director. Not a project ten years in the making. If anything I'd say it feels a little rushed! This isn't the worst movie I've ever seen. I just don't think it lives up to its own hype and it didn't win me over.
