Matt Reeve's Batman is undeniably satisfying! The City of Gotham and its people reflect each other perfectly, lack of hope and strength. The atmosphere, the tone, and sounds synced along with the moments respectfully. A beautiful detective story in G city.
This is definitely not an origins story by no means, or any kind of animated story you may have read or watched. By saying that, I mean embrace it as it is and not as what you wanted to be.
I really loved how the City's vibe affects everyone's mental and emotional state, including the main characters of the movie. Finding a motive within a chaotic "world" played a vital challenge amongst everyone.
Keep in mind I hadn't seen a "live" version of the penguin in over 30 years [played by DeVito] (which is RIDICULOUS). This Penguin (Farrell) was unexpectedly fun to watch. The make up, voice, and attire suited him well. A few funny moments (if you pay close attention)
After Michelle's catwoman (92), I thought to myself, whoever dares to play the role again must be insane or truly...TRULY believes in themselves..and Zoe did not disappoint. Edgy, kickass, and stylish.
The Riddler has finally arrived. Paul Dano sold the character! Gotham has very smart villains..villains that are hurt and hungry...and that combination can be lethal. The attire was on point along with his voice...menacing, gritty, and creepy.
Pattinsons version of the Bat/Bruce was an interesting take...especially during the transition of the character. He's hurdling through all kinds of emotions, at times it seemed he wanted no part of it..liveles..no motive. Which I thought was brilliant. All heroes start off somewhere right? But how do you find a reason to continue when an event stripped away what you loved. That's his dilemma....and G city is in need of someone or something to bring it back to life.
I can't give this a perfect score...but I'm definitely giving this beauty a solid 9.
......<?> bye
