Chiefly why I didn't like this show is because I came to watch a sci-fi show I know and love, but what I got was a show that seems to be the total opposite.
I don’t know why new Disney needs to: (1) rewrite the past and destroy old lore, and (2) keep bringing these “new-age” values into their old stories. Like, I really just want to watch Star Wars, and not people trying to train young adults and this young adult kinda being both Mandalorian and Jedi (and taking both for granted) and is neither. And the teacher says the way of Jedi failed (it failed not because of its standards) and just wants the student to be herself. I think there’s a time and place for that, which is our real life, but here I’m trying to watch my sci-fi fiction. I’m a young adult myself and find this quite vexing
I stopped watching at the end of this dialogue between Huyang & Ashoka. :
Huyang: The Jedi Order would not have accepted her. She is not an acceptable candidate.
Ashoka: By their standards.
Huyang: Standards which were proven over a millenium.
Ashoka: And failed.
Huyang: You realize, historically, there have been very few Mandalorians who ever became a Jedi.
Ashoka: I don't need Sabine to be a Jedi. I need her to be herself.
