I saw Asteroid City yesterday. Some notes about myself: I’m 26, male, love movies, and this was my first Wes Anderson film (so take that how you will).
I thought the cinematography and ambience are the strong points of the movie. Also, seeing a lot of famous actresses and actors in one movie was a plus.
However, I thought this movie was clumsy overall. For younger generations like myself, the humor is just not funny. It’s like surface-level quirky humor. Tiring dad-jokes, that can bring a smirk to your face, but not make you laugh out-loud, type of humor.
Also, there isn’t really a plot. If there is a plot, the film is way too sporadic to make the plot clear to the audience.
I’m giving 2 stars. I really liked how the movie looked visually including the music and sounds, but the humor is very outdated (probably intentionally) and the plot is near non existent.
