I absolutely loved this film, to me it was light hearted escapism. I have no doubt it bears very little resemblance to the actual events that inspired it and it does not reflect society at that time but if you want to put reality aside and just enjoy a nice wee British film with humour and great acting then this fits the bill.

I really enjoyed this wee film, it was pure escapism and good fun with some very poignant moments. I’m not familiar at all with Kathie Lee Gifford but also being a ‘lady of a certain age’ she portrayed her character really well, a wee bit risqué at times but good on her. Craig Ferguson played his part excellently and I loved the humour. It was also nice to see Ford Kiernan in another role since Still Game. I decided to watch this as it was set in Scotland and from a purely personal point of view it was great to see places I’m familiar with especially the George Hotel in Inveraray where I’ve stayed several times and partaken of a few wee drams in their lovely bar.
