true fans of the nordic-noir genre are bound to be somewhat disappointed. The ones who are mere tourists might be charmed by the apparent "bleakish" atmosphere of the show. those who are permanent inhabitants of this space can definitely see through this surface level facade. The first episode is not half bad actually. If I absolutely have to, I might extend it to two episodes but it's pretty downhill from there. So the 5 part series is divided into two cases ( case I - ep 1,2,3 & case II - ep 4,5 ) This in itself is not necessarily a bad thing but it's not promising either. The cinematography & the sound however does capture the nordic essence to some extent. But the plot or plots rather, seem to be rushed. The painful & excrutiating panorama of emotions that the viewer comes to expect from this genre was there but the portrayal of ot was just bad. Carla sehn the lead protaganist was alright, she is a pretty good actor. The other 2-3 main cast members just didn't sit right in this case & for this story. And Carla carrying the series alone on her shoulders just seemed pretty juvenile. Her role in love & anarchy is much suited to her personality & aura. I can think of many good actors for the roles of Anna & Daniel in this series who would have been a better fit. Cinematography - 4 Sound - 4 Casting - 1 Plot - 1 Total - 2.5

The director has truly done an outstanding job. A unique concoction of familiar elements. An example of fine storytelling by Flannagan. It's bound to haunt you for long. You might find yourself questioning the authenticity of what you see. DO NOT SKIP THIS ONE...

Making a good horror film is a tough job and whoever merely endeavours to do so is courageous in the very least. That been said, a horror movie often borders on creativity and utter non-sense. Flannagan just managed to sell this one to the audiences. It's believable enough but certainly lacks a lasting impact. Definitely a one time watch, but if you got a better choice then go for that.

It's clever! Whenever you think you have it all figured out, something new is thrown at you. The personalities played by the amazing cast are multilayered. The movie will definitely keep you at your seat's edge. Enjoy!!! Happy viewing!!

The movie is superb with all its imagery and symbolism and sure to give you the thrills. Acted brilliantly. Makes you feel the helplessness, pain and desperation. Flanagan's best till date. DON'T MISS

Mike flannagan has proved a point, that horror doesn't always necessitates a supernatural presence. The scene of the psycopathic intruder and the elements supporting his presence have been artfully put forth. The plot is simple but it's enactment rather great. Silence has been masterfully maipulated to bring across the desperation of the characters and their situations. One of the best in the genre. So quit browsing through the reviews and watch it.
