Gameplay:
I think the gameplay for 2k25 may be the best on the Xbox series S/X and PS5 next generation consoles this far for sure! ProPlay is finally feeling more implemented than last year. For the “current nba” I really can see player likeness and authenticity, the ball to rim physics are back like past 2k games which is great and I love them! Shooting is fair, I personally like it more than 2k24.
Myplayer/Online Scene:
Just like these last 4-6 years the online scene is still very toxic and VC based. Basically, you truly can’t compete being a 60 overall unless you purchase VC or “grind”. This game is literally unplayable unless you invest some sort of VC into your player. Badges aka “Artificial boosts” seem to run the show when it comes to 2k basketball games these days, I stopped playing the online scene back in 2k23 and I am happy with my decision.
Games mechanics:
There’s still a TON of legacy issues the NBA 2k series has that’s been hurting the gameplay for the last 6 years but more specifically the last 4. Players are sliding and skating ALL over the court, very bad footplanting, at times you can literally see players floating above the court, like their feet isn’t even touching the court. Enormous amounts of suction, weird janky movements, players on fast breaks tend to slow down at times and bend forward, basically running awkwardly, dribbling can still be a little out of control at times, lot of yo-yo like dribbling.
MyNBAEras Mode:
This is a mode where many people who love the past great players or teams see a lazy job on 2k’s end. They literally don’t have players likeness , attributes, etc correct for MANY past great players, even team courts and jerseys etc are not accurate. There’s even some missing players.
Final conclusion:
I think the gameplay has improved a bit, however I just can’t give this game 4 or 5 stars because of the neglect to “very important” aspects of this game. I’d say it’s worth $70 max! But I’d strongly recommend others who play online to try not to spend so much money after purchasing the game.
