Having been involved in the manufacture of polishes of many types, I started way back with a wonderful English Company, 'Thousand and one' the wonder Cleaner, essentially a clever solution of various teepol/Teepodol and alcohol and other ingredients. The product was among the first English firms to manufacture lavender Scented Furniture Polish, (This was an AFTER manufacture product intended for use by the housewife, The Polish also included Pure English Lavender Oil as a Selling point & Silicon.. The firm was famous for its amazing '1001 The Wonder Cleaner. as used on the Queen Mary and other cruise liners. (this action created massive sales.) a Mr Benny Stiller was the Company's Director and the head office as in London, although i worked at the Shipley Yorkshire,manufacturing branch for some three years prior to Call up national service those days, . Head office was London, opposite Wrights Coal tar Soap factory. The company was dynamic and the staff amazing, Had it not for being National Service requirements, I feel sure I could have gone from Laboratory to Management in that company. Whilst POLISHING compounds as used in the manufacture of cabinetry and furniture were an interest, I was to become fascinated by many polish types hereafter, especially Cabinet types which later served me in my business of Speaker Cabinet.Hi Fi had just been born!!! late fifties.
