The many historical inaccuracies drove me crazy, they ranged from obvious to more subtle. For example, hay balers were invented 50 years after the books setting, deer are very lean with scant fat and certainly not enough to be used to make candles. Wagons were not used in deep snow, sleds were used, on and on...
The abysmally poor research made me doubt the entire book.
