Ok I'm in my mid 40s so I grew up reading these books. When I started reading to my daughters, I admit I picked these to read to them just so I can read them again. As far as the series goes, it's really cute, and followed the stories pretty well, hence the four stars. This is really just a personal opinion, but I'd always pronounced Mary Anne's last name as spy-er, not speer. But the thing that kept my rating from being 5 stars is the fact that the girls are calling the parents of their charges by their first names. Call me old fashioned, but I was raised to show respect by calling adults outside of the family Mr./Mrs./Miss and their last names. Even in the books it's that way, Mrs. Barrett, Dr. Johannsen, Mrs. Newton, etc. But all in all, my daughters and I loved the series and look forward to a second season.
