Welcome! I hope you love reading about this DISAPPOINTMENT! ☺️ (*PLEASE READ UNTIL END*) … Okay, I was a really big fan of the School for Good and Evil book series! I then found the movie, and despite prior warnings, I decided to watch it. BIG. MISTAKE. First of all, they got the costuming wrong, and each character was not what I pictured from the book. As one of the many examples, Rafal and Rhian are NOT identical twins!!! Also, they look like they are dressing up as twin jesters for Halloween. Not sure if that was the original vision. Also…some of the haircuts… However, this was a minor issue, when we see that they demolished all of the beautiful books Soman wrote, chopped out what they THOUGHT were the best parts, and completely ruined it, along with adding… 🥁 🥁 🥁 BLOOD MAGIC Ok, can someone tell me WHAT exactly this is??? Hmm…I don’t clearly remember this from the book. Or any of them. Ohhh, so now we’re going to introduce BLOOD MAGIC, and base our WHOLE movie around it?! I mean, come on! There were so many other good parts in the book that made it unique and wonderful! The Circus Of Talents: thrown away. The part where we find out that the brothers’ roles are actually reversed?!: gone. They basically skipped a whole lot of books and mashed them all together in an abomination of a movie. Even though I watched it a while ago, I stand, still in amazement, about how it went so, so wrong. However, on a more positive note, I am sure a lot of people have a lot of suggestions to how to improve this movie. Perhaps this could be a valuable learning point on how to make their next movie better (if there is another one….). The settings were quite nice, I suppose. I refuse to give this any stars because I believe it doesn’t deserve any. However, the reviewing page says I need at least a star to post it, so there. I recommend watching it if you want to destroy your childhood memories, like it did mine. Did Soman Chainani even have a say in this??
